The Bloomberg Intelligence analyst James Seyffart said that even with a crypto-friendly White House, the Solana ETF may not be launched in the US until 2026. Seyffart stated in an interview with Blockworks that the ETF issuer ‘may see progress on the stalled Solana ETF application’ after the inauguration of President Donald Trump on January 20. However, Seyffart pointed out that ‘due to the SEC’s practice of taking 240 to 260 days to review applications, the timeline may extend to 2026.’ He also mentioned that the SEC is suing cryptocurrency exchanges, accusing SOL of being an unregistered security, further complicating the review process. ‘The SEC’s enforcement division defines Solana as a security, which hinders other divisions of the SEC from analyzing it as a commodity ETF,’ explained Seyffart.
