Ethereum Fusaka Upgrade Paves Way for Institutional Adoption

Fusaka upgrade enhances Ethereum scalability and efficiency for institutional adoption.

Rollup fees drop 15–60%, benefiting high-volume tokenized and DeFi flows.

Block gas limits rise fivefold and PeerDAS improves data availability and throughput.

The Ethereum Fusaka upgrade is going live on its mainnet tomorrow. This achievement enhances scalability, efficiency, and throughput while preserving Ethereum’s core values of security, decentralization, and neutrality

Joseph Chalom, co-CEO of Sharplink, emphasized, “Fusaka is a huge milestone for Ethereum and its path to institutional adoption. It advances network scalability and efficiency while staying true to its core values: security, decentralization, and neutrality.” The upgrade directly supports tokenized assets, institutional settlements, and broader financial infrastructure.

The Fusaka upgrade delivers multiple improvements crucial for high-volume institutional activity. SharpLink highlighted lower data posting costs, cutting rollup fees by 15–60%. “For high-volume institutional flows of tokenized funds, stablecoins, and DeFi participants these are big cost savings,” Sharplink noted

Moreover, Fusaka increases block gas limits from 30 million to 150 million, a fivefold rise, while integrating PeerDAS, a scalable data availability solution. These upgrades boost throughput without compromising Ethereum’s security, a critical factor for banks and asset managers.

Enhanced Network Resilience and Efficiency

Fusaka also strengthens network resilience by lowering hardware and bandwidth demands for nodes. Consequently, more full nodes and home validators can operate, promoting decentralization

Parshakov, a Sharplink infrastructure lead, explained, “PeerDAS significantly reduces per-node data handling demands while enabling much higher blob throughput.” This efficiency makes participation feasible for smaller operators while allowing institutions to benefit from economies of scale.

Additional improvements prepare Ethereum’s rollup ecosystem for higher volumes. EIP-7918 introduces a base reserve price for blob fees, reducing volatility for sequencers. Fusaka also combines with prior validator consolidation from the Pectra upgrade, streamlining operations for compliance-focused players

Parshakov notes, “Fusaka is about efficiency. It helps institutions streamline operations without giving up redundancy or decentralization.”
