隨著全球行動通訊邁向星地整合的新時代，台灣大哥大於 3 月 2 日宣布，於 MWC 世界行動通訊大會中，正式與全球首家實現手機直連衛星（Direct to Cellular, D2C）的通訊大廠 AST SpaceMobile 簽署「低軌衛星通訊服務策略合作備忘錄」。此舉象徵台灣電信業將通訊範疇從地面進一步延伸至太空，致力打造星地整合的立體網路，為台灣全境提供更具韌性的通訊服務。
一般手機即能通衛星：無縫補足涵蓋缺口
本次合作的核心亮點在於「手機直連衛星」技術（D2C）。與傳統衛星通訊需要笨重的專屬終端或大型天線不同，AST SpaceMobile 的技術能讓位於 500 公里高空的低軌衛星，直接與使用者手中的標準智慧型手機連線。這意味著用戶無需更換任何硬體設備或加裝配件，即可在現有行動網路難以覆蓋的區域，如偏遠山區、海上或受災斷網情境下，維持基本的通訊能力。
這項技術不僅大幅提升了通訊的便利性，更具備高度的成本效益，讓衛星通訊從過往的特殊需求，轉變為一般民眾在關鍵時刻都能使用的備援機制。
強化通訊韌性：守護地形多樣的台灣
台灣地形破碎且自然災害頻繁，高山、縱谷與離島的收訊一直是挑戰。台灣大哥大總經理林之晨指出，低軌衛星技術能強化地面網路的韌性，尤其在地震或颱風導致地面基地台受損時，衛星能發揮強大的關鍵備援作用。
AST SpaceMobile 總裁 Scott Wisniewski 也表示，透過 AST 的太空基地台與台灣大建置的地面站連動，將建構出一套無縫的通訊架構。在這次合作中，AST SpaceMobile 將負責營運低軌衛星系統，而台灣大則提供在地地面站營運、頻譜規劃及法規溝通等支援，共同推動這項前瞻性服務在台灣落地。
接軌國際生態系：與全球科技巨擘同步
AST SpaceMobile 擁有領先的衛星架構，其「BlueBird」衛星陣列採用大規模相控陣天線設計，單顆衛星展開面積達 2,400 平方英尺。該公司已獲得 Google、AT&T、Verizon 及 Vodafone 等國際科技與電信巨擘的策略投資，並與多國國防與人道救援機構建立合作關係。
