1月27日消息，稳定币巨头 Tether 正在加速布局黄金市场，首席执行官 Paul Ardoino 表示，公司计划在后美元时代成为“黄金中央银行”，并积极交易其庞大的黄金储备。Ardoino指出，随着美国潜在竞争对手可能推出以黄金为支撑的美元替代品，Tether 在全球黄金市场的作用将进一步扩大，他认为黄金“从逻辑上比任何国家货币更安全”。
据报道，Tether 已累计近140吨黄金，这些储备存放在瑞士一座冷战时期建造的地下设施中，规模仅次于各国中央银行、ETF 与商业银行持有的黄金。Tether 每周购买约一至两吨黄金，并计划在未来几个月保持这一节奏。随着黄金价格近期大幅上涨，其黄金储备总价值已超过233亿美元，每盎司黄金价格约为5234美元。
Tether 正在拓展交易业务，不仅持有黄金储备，还计划主动交易以捕捉市场套利机会。Ardoino透露，公司已聘请两名来自汇丰银行的高级黄金交易员，负责贵金属市场战略。此外，Tether 还通过股权投资收购了 Elemental Altus Royalties 和 Gold Royalty Corp. 等加拿大上市公司股份，以增强在贵金属领域的布局。
在稳定币业务方面，USDT 仍占据全球主导地位，流通量超过1860亿美元。同时，Tether 发行的 Tether Gold (XAUT) 市值达到26.2亿美元，占黄金稳定币市场一半以上。公司今日还宣布推出面向美国用户的新稳定币 USAT，并任命前白宫加密货币政策顾问 Bo Hines 加入 USAT 团队，以强化美元挂钩产品的合规与市场拓展。
分析人士认为，Tether 的战略显示出稳定币与贵金属深度整合的趋势，随着黄金和其他金属价格持续走强，Tether 不仅稳固了在全球加密金融市场的地位，也在积极挑战传统银行在黄金交易和资产管理领域的领导权。
