Recently, the 7th China Blockchain Technology Conference and the first Global Blockchain Industry Summit hosted by CCF (China Computer Federation) opened in Shanghai. At the meeting, the Blockchain Infrastructure Technology Forum was also officially opened as a sub-forum, which brought together experts, scholars and industry elites from different academic fields and professional backgrounds to discuss the development and application of blockchain technology, aiming to promote the innovation and development of blockchain technology and industry, and promote the “Chinese paradigm” in the process of blockchain ecological construction.

“As a revolutionary technology in the digital economy era, blockchain technology is leading a profound transformation globally.” Huang Lin, Deputy Director of the Infrastructure Department of the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Data, said that as the exploration of blockchain technology applications continues to deepen, since its establishment, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Data has been guiding Shanghai Data Group to accelerate the on-chain and use-chain work of regional leading enterprises in coordination with the Shanghai State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and other relevant bureaus. More than fifty leading enterprises have been identified, with over a hundred application scenarios, and progress has been made in batches around key areas such as supply chain, finance, green low-carbon, and shipping trade, achieving certain results.

It is understood that the Shanghai Municipal Data Bureau also supports the cultivation of blockchain ecology based on the characteristics of different regions, such as the ‘Data Chain Space’ in Xuhui and the exploration of cross-border industrial development in Pudong, providing impetus for the development of the digital economy and industrial upgrading in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta region.

Cai Lei, Deputy Director of the Data Bureau of Xuhui District, Shanghai, introduced that the ‘Data Chain Space’ located in Xuhui District has become the first national gathering space for blockchain technology innovation ecology and the first blockchain ‘1+1+1’ open source incubator in Shanghai and even in China. The Xuhui ‘Data Chain Space’ will fully leverage the advantages of Xuhui’s location, talents, and scientific and technological innovation, and gather to form an industrial ecology of blockchain technology innovation, injecting strong power into the development of digital economy and industrial upgrading in Shanghai and even the Yangtze River Delta.

Shanghai Pujiang Digital Science and Technology Co., Ltd. COO Liu Yong introduced that blockchain provides a new path for the digital transformation of cities, the construction of data infrastructure, and the discovery of the value of data elements. In Shanghai, blockchain, as an important driving force for the high-quality development of the digital economy, is unleashing powerful new productivity in state-owned enterprises, urban governance, and livelihood services.

From the perspective of the digital economy, data elements and blockchain are intricately connected. ‘Just as electrification transformation must have electricity, digital transformation must have data. Data is the fifth factor of production in the digital age,’ said Zhou Aoying, a professor at the School of Data Science of East China Normal University and a member of the China Computer Society. He believes that as the next-generation internet infrastructure, blockchain is of great importance. Furthermore, he believes that blockchain will provide a trust mechanism for data circulation and sharing, and promote society to enter a new stage of trust.
