Golden Data News on August 1st, a fiery 24-hour trading session witnessed the yen’s best performance in over a year and a half, prompting strategists from Oriental Capital and Nomura Securities to predict that the yen could rise to a high of 140. A colleague from Macquarie Group said, ‘The yen’s astonishing rise has just begun.’ The USD/JPY currency pair could reach close to 140 yen by the end of the year and surge all the way to 125 yen by December 2025. This will bring the yen back to its level at the beginning of 2022, when the Fed had just started raising interest rates. ‘If we see multiple factors come together, Döviz Kuru could reach 140, including the start of a loose monetary policy by the Fed, rising risk aversion, and the Bank of Japan maintaining a firm and unwavering tightening stance,’ said Paresh Upadhyaya, Head of Fixed Income and Forex Strategy at Oriental Capital USA. ‘Although this may seem out of reach, it is not the case.’
