New York, Minnesota, and Maryland Democratic governors said Wednesday they would support President Biden's reelection, following candid discussions with Biden about his poor performance in last week's debate. "The president has always been our shield. We also want to be his shield," Maryland Governor Wes Moore told reporters after meeting with Biden and Vice President Harris at the White House. The attendees included 24 Democratic governors and the mayor of Washington, D.C., some participating online. Moore said the governors candidly conveyed negative feedback from voters about Biden's poor performance in the debate with Republican opponent Trump. He said it was evident that there was work to be done before the November 5 election, but Biden had made it clear that he would continue to run. New York Governor Kathy Hochul said she felt confident after the meeting, and all governors pledged their support for Biden. She said President Biden is "fighting to win the election."
