Jito officially announced the details of the airdrop, how will the 100 million JTO be distributed?

On November 28, Jito, a liquid staking protocol on Solana, announced that it would launch JTO, a governance token, and would airdrop 100 million JTO (10% of the total supply) to the community. Although in the announcement at that time, Jito determined that the target groups of the airdrop would be JitoSOL users, Jito Solana validators, and Jito MEV searchers, it did not disclose what kind of rules the 100 million JTO would be distributed among the above three groups, and eligible addresses could not query how much airdrop quota they could get at that time.

Token Contract & Allocation Scheme

According to the information released by Jito this morning, the **JTO token has now been minted on-chain, but it is not officially in circulation except for some small-scale test transfers, and the token contract address is jtojtomepa8beP8AuQc6eXt5FriJwfFMwQx2v2f9mCL. **

Judging from the published distribution scheme, JitoSOL users will receive 80% of the airdrop quota (80 million JTO), Jito Solana validators will receive 15% (15 million JTO), and Jito MEV seekers will receive another 5% (5 million JTO). **

It is worth mentioning that Jito emphasized that all former and current core contributors will not be included in the JTO airdrop, including all core contributor addresses that meet the above criteria. **

Details of the airdrop for JitoSOL users

JitoSOL users’ airdrop eligibility is determined based on the ranking of the Jito Points program, **Only JitoSOL users with points equal to or greater than 100 points are eligible for airdrops. **

In order to ensure a fairer distribution, the Jito Foundation has adopted a hierarchical distribution system for different points tiers, which is to ensure that users with fewer points can get more rewards than those who are distributed in equal proportions, so that more people can participate in Jito’s ecological governance.

The airdrop snapshot started on January 1, 2023 and ended on November 25, 2023, during which a total of 9,852 addresses were eligible.

Jito Solana validator airdrop fine print

Jito-Solana validators have played a key role in scaling the network effect of the Jito-Solana client, which now accounts for 41% of the network’s staking weight.

A total of 15,000,000 JTO will be distributed to Jito-Solana validators according to the following rules:

Operated the Jito-Solana client between the 366th epoch and the 536th epoch;

• **Operated the Jito-Solana client between the 527th epoch and the 536th epoch and lasted at least one epoch. **

The JTO distribution will be based on each validator’s share of the total Jito-Solana staking size, and each epoch since the 366th epoch will be weighted in the time dimension. Eventually, Jito-Solana validators will have four levels of distribution criteria, as shown in the diagram below.

It is important to note that only 50% of the JTO airdropped to Jito-Solana validators can be claimed at the time of token creation, and the remaining 50% will be unlocked linearly over a period of 12 months. **

Jito MEV Searcher

The last batch of eligible for the JTO airdrop is for searchers who have used the Jito MEV search suite, with a total of 5 million JTO tokens.

To qualify for an empty investment, a Jito MEV seeker must invest at least 1 SOL between epochs 366th and 536th. **

Similar to the distribution method of Jito-Solana validators, Jito MEV searcher addresses that are eligible for the airdrop will be divided into five different tiers, among which the more active searchers will receive a larger allocation, as shown in the figure below.

In addition, only 50% of the JTO airdropped to Jito MEV seekers can be claimed at the time of token creation, and the remaining 50% will be unlocked linearly over a period of 12 months. **

Risk Warning

Jito officially said that JTO’s airdrop will have an 18-month claim period after it opens, after which the unclaimed tokens will be transferred to the Realms wallet in the DAO vault.
