On November 30, Microsoft announced that it will invest £2.5 billion over the next 3 years to expand the UK’s next-generation AI data center infrastructure. It is reported that this is Microsoft’s largest investment in the UK’s 40-year history. Microsoft has pledged to more than double its data center footprint in the UK, bringing more than 20,000 state-of-the-art graphics processing units (GPUs) to the UK by 2026 and training more than a million people for the AI economy. Microsoft will also support the UK’s growing AI security and research efforts through partnerships with the government and top universities.
