Techub News reports, according to Jin10 Data, White House economic advisor Kevin Hasset stated on Fox News’ “Sunday Briefing” that Trump is very likely to keep him in his current position, which would make him withdraw from the race for the next Federal Reserve Chair. “From the beginning, he and I have been discussing whether I should stay in the White House West Wing or go to the Federal Reserve,” Hasset said. “I don’t think he has made a final decision on this yet.” Last week, Trump expressed reservations about nominating Hasset to succeed current Fed Chair Powell. During an event at the White House, he told the National Economic Council director, “Honestly, I actually hope you stay in your current position.”
After Trump’s speech, traders on the prediction market site Kalshi increased the likelihood of Kevin Waugh getting the job to 60%, while Hasset and Christopher Waller had probabilities of only 16% and 14%, respectively. Traders on Polymarket also showed similar dynamics, with Waugh at 60%, Hasset at 15%, and Waller at 13%. Previously, Waugh and Hasset had nearly equal chances of winning.
