Abstract generation in progress

The contribution of 6.25 billion USD from tech billionaire Michael Dell to expand President Donald Trump's child savings program has raised a big question in the crypto industry: if Trump publicly supports Bitcoin, why do Trump Accounts completely ban crypto — and can this change?

Implemented under the OBBBA Act, Trump Accounts provide each child in the U.S. with a government-backed investment account that offers tax benefits. Children born from 2025 to 2028 will receive 1,000 USD from the government, while Dell's contribution adds 250 USD for 25 million children born before 2025. Dell stated that the program aims to assist families early on and encourage long-term saving habits.

However, the investment portfolio is subject to strict limitations. According to the Ministry of Finance and Schwab, accounts can only invest in index funds and index ETFs. Crypto products — including Bitcoin ETFs and Ethereum ETFs — are still excluded, even though Trump has recently strongly supported Bitcoin and has been promoting the on-chain market in the U.S.
