Truther revolutionizes crypto payments with USDT card without custody in El Salvador

Truther fintech is transforming the way users spend cryptocurrencies. Its innovative USDT crypto card, which debuted on January 29 in El Salvador, marks a turning point in the adoption of decentralized payments in Latin America. Unlike traditional cards, this solution completely eliminates custody intermediaries, allowing funds to be withdrawn directly from self-managed wallets at the exact moment of each transaction.

The USDT crypto card: full control from your wallet

Founder Rocelo Lopes explains the operation with a practical example: if you are in a hotel and the bill is 30 euros, Truther’s card converts and deducts the equivalent in USDT in real time, without the need to preload funds or rely on centralized platforms. This revolutionary model preserves the user’s absolute control over their assets.

The technical structure of the crypto card is built on the Polygon network, with plans for future migration to the Liquid Network to ensure greater privacy. Costs are competitive: just 2% on currency conversions, while Brazilian users benefit from exemption from the IOF tax on financial transactions.

An innovative mechanism allows funds to be loaded in seconds, allocating exactly the amount needed for each payment. Users define the validity period of this load, combining security and flexibility in a single tool. This approach, completely different from conventional crypto cards that require preloaded balances or custodial accounts, positions Truther as a pioneer in democratizing access to crypto payments without intermediaries.

Strategic expansion in Latin America

The launch in El Salvador, where bitcoin has legal tender status, represents much more than a regional debut. It is a testing platform for mass adoption across Latin America. The company is already deploying its Swapix API in Argentina, with rollout confirmed in Mexico and Colombia in the coming months.

The selection of these markets is no coincidence. Truther prioritized countries with 24/7 available payment infrastructure and native support for QR code-based transactions, essential requirements to maintain real-time settlements. This strategy demonstrates a deep understanding of local ecosystems and their specific instant payment needs.

Truther’s processing volume already reaches $40 million daily, connecting stablecoins like USDT with the Brazilian PIX system. This massive traffic validates the viability of the model before regional expansion.

Multicurrency stablecoins and the future of decentralized payments

Truther’s self-managed wallet currently supports BTC, USDT, and its own stablecoin pegged to the Brazilian real. By early 2026, the platform will integrate additional stablecoins, including Tether Gold and a token linked to the Argentine peso, expanding options for users across the region.

The crypto payments ecosystem is at a turning point. Stablecoin volumes could triple in the next 12 months, driven by the accelerated onboarding of traditional financial actors. Truther is positioned at the forefront of this transformation, with ongoing discussions with banking institutions to integrate stablecoins into their existing infrastructures.

Truther’s crypto card exemplifies a broader trend: towards practical, accessible, and truly decentralized crypto payments. In a context where Visa is beginning to experiment with settlements in stablecoins and Latin American governments recognize digital assets, solutions like this are not speculative futures but present realities transforming the global payment system.
