U.S. consumer inflation expectations have risen

On March 14, Joanne Hsu, director of consumer surveys at the University of Michigan, said that inflation expectations for the coming year jumped from 4.3% last month to 4.9% this month, the highest level since November 2022, marking three consecutive months of an unusually large increase of 0.5 percentage points or this month's growth is reflected in the three political factions. Long-term inflation expectations surged to 3.9% in March from 3.5% in February, the largest monthly increase since 1993, mainly among independents, and the increase in February, which was already large.
