After Trump took office in January, Powell resigned as Vice Chairman overseeing banking regulation at the Fed, retaining only his board position. Trump has not nominated a successor, leaving the position vacant. Some Republican lawmakers have been recommending Bowman, a Republican, for the role, an idea also supported by Trump's advisors. Trump said in an interview on Sunday that he would announce the nominee for the position in the near future.
