The Ethereum Foundation announced a major leadership change to enhance organizational capacity and communication.
Co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, announced that the Ethereum Foundation will undergo a major leadership change aimed at improving the organization's capacity and communication. The restructuring process has been ongoing for nearly a year, with some changes already implemented and others still underway.
We are indeed currently in the process of large changes to EF leadership structure, which has been ongoing for close to a year. Some of this has already been executed on and made public, and some is still in progress.
What we're trying to achieve is primarily the following…

The main goal of reorganization
Vitalik outlined several core goals behind the restructuring, aimed at strengthening the technical capabilities of the leadership team and increasing the foundation's execution speed. These changes also focus on attracting new talent to ensure the foundation can swiftly implement plans and provide more proactive support for application developers, wallet providers, and second-layer protocol within the Ethereum ecosystem. One of the main objectives is to enhance communication between the Ethereum Foundation and its ecosystem participants, including individual and institutional users.
Committed to founding principles
The leadership goals redefined by the Ethereum Foundation reflect a commitment to the founding principles of Ethereum, including privacy, open-source development, and resistance to censorship. Vitalik emphasized that the restructuring will further strengthen the application of decentralized technology in payments and fund management for Ethereum, to further integrate Ethereum blockchain solutions and serve a broader decentralized financial ecosystem.
However, Vitalik explicitly rejects the Ethereum Foundation's turn to lobbying or serving any particular vested interests. He emphasizes that the Foundation will not engage in lobbying activities, especially in countries like the United States, to uphold Ethereum's neutrality and maintain its global platform status.
Vitalik said, "These things are not done by the EF, and this will not change. People seeking different visions are welcome to establish their own organizations." Emphasizing the Foundation's commitment to decentralization and avoiding centralization.
Returning to social media to increase transparency
Vitalik's leadership update closely follows the recent return of the Ethereum Foundation to social media, launching a new account on X (formerly known as Twitter) with the handle @ethereumfndn. This marks a step towards greater transparency and improved communication for the foundation, aiming to end a year of silence on social platforms.
The new account is part of the Ethereum Foundation's broader strategy to improve interaction with the community, especially in addressing concerns related to leadership, funding issues, and operational efficiency. Through the use of X, the foundation plans to share the latest news on its activities, grants, and financial disclosures, aiming to provide clearer operational insights.
Respond to community financial review
The funding management and expenditure practices of the Ethereum Foundation are under scrutiny, and some community members are calling for increased transparency. Vitalik defended the foundation's ETH sales, stating that the generated funds are crucial for supporting key aspects of the Ethereum ecosystem, including research and development, low transaction fees, and privacy technology.
Vitalik also emphasizes the importance of using ecosystem-native tools, including decentralized finance (DeFi), to achieve the foundation's goals. He urges caution and wisdom in implementing these strategies, acknowledging that while using ecosystem tools may not maintain complete neutrality, it is necessary for the effectiveness of the foundation.
As the Ethereum Foundation navigates through these changes, it remains to be seen how the new leadership structure will impact its operations and interaction with the wider crypto community.
