Multiple ZK-rollup teams have told me that they expect to reach phase 1 by the end of the year. I am very much looking forward to this. Of course, we cannot abandon the ‘auxiliary wheel’ before ensuring the security of the proof system, which would be irresponsible. But phase 1 (75% of the committee members have the right to overturn the proof system, with 26% or more from members outside the rollup team) is a very reasonable intermediate milestone. In the past few years, there has never been an activity issue with the multisig I have been involved in, let alone 26%. The era of rollups as the ‘multisig upgrade’ is coming to an end, and the era based on cryptographic trust is about to come.
