OpenAI Responds to New York Times Lawsuit: Using News Content Is Fair Use

In December last year, the New York Times filed a lawsuit against Microsoft and OpenAI, alleging that news content appearing in its ChatGPT training data infringed intellectual property rights. OpenAI wrote in a statement Monday that the company disagrees with The New York Times' lawsuit, writing: "We are working with news organizations and are creating new opportunities. Training is fair use, but we offer the opportunity to opt out."
