Middle Eastern energy hub suffers further blow as UAE storage and transportation center catches fire, intensifying supply disruption fears

PANews reports that debris from a intercepted drone caused a fire at Fujairah, the UAE’s main oil trade hub. This is the latest incident in the Middle East affecting major energy facilities. Civil defense teams are working to control the fire. Earlier Tuesday, another fire was reported in the area, and operations at a major oil storage terminal and a refinery were suspended the day before. Fujairah is a critical refueling port and one of the largest oil storage and trading centers in the Middle East. Located outside the Strait of Hormuz, it holds strategic importance for the UAE. Through a pipeline connecting the region’s tanks to Abu Dhabi oil fields, Fujairah also serves as a key alternative export route for the UAE. However, the pipeline’s capacity is still insufficient to fully replace all of the UAE’s oil flows through the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
