Ethereum Fusaka Mainnet Upgrade is Less Than 24 Hours Away
The Ethereum network is gearing up for a major milestone as the Fusaka upgrade is set to go live on December 3. According to the report, this upgrade will enhance the network in several ways, making it faster, cheaper, and easier to use.
Fusaka Upgrade Comes With Lots of Improvements
No doubt, the Fusaka hard fork, also known as Fulu-Osaka, is designed to bring major technical improvements to the Ethereum network
One key focus of the Fusaka upgrade is making rollups more efficient. Rollups help process most off-chain transactions and then send these back to the main chain for security. This change will improve Layer-2 network performance and help reduce costs for users over time.
Importantly, the upgrade brings in Peer Data Availability Sampling (PeerDAS). This is designed to let validators check only small parts of data instead of downloading huge blobs. As such, it will make things faster, use less storage, and stay safe.
There will be two updates called Blob Parameter Only forks. The BPO1 launch is scheduled for December 9, while BPO2 is on January 7. These updates will transform blob parameters without additional code, enabling increased capacity. The EIP-7918 connects the minimum blob base fee to execution gas. This prevents blob prices from dropping too low when Layer 1 gas is expensive
Fusaka Upgrade Changes Gas Limits
Another major milestone is the increase in the block gas limit. As reported by TheCoinRise, the limit moved from 45 million to 60 million after more than half of the network’s validators agreed. This upgrade enables Ethereum to handle more transactions simultaneously, reducing congestion and improving network efficiency.
The gas limit specifies how much work can fit into a single block. Interestingly, this change is not just a quick fix; it shows a strategic plan for better performance in the future. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin explained that the gas limit increase is part of the network’s shift towards more specific and detailed optimizations.
He also said the gas limit could increase over the next year, potentially up to five times its current level. At the same time, the cost for inefficient operations could rise similarly.
Fusaka Upgrade and Beyond
Interestingly, Fusaka is set to introduce 11 Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs). Looking further ahead, the community is already preparing for the Glamsterdam upgrade, expected in 2026. Among its most anticipated features is EIP-7782, a proposal to halve block times to six seconds by separating block validation from execution
This would give provers more time to generate sero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine proofs, further advancing the network’s scaling roadmap.
Recent momentum in development has coincided with market enthusiasm. Several publicly listed firms have added Ether to their treasuries in recent months. Meanwhile, this is a factor analysts link to ETH’s more than 200% price surge since April.
