Bitwise: ICO 2.0 will revive, and at least six billion-dollar ICO projects are expected in 2026.
Golden Finance reports that on November 12th, Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan stated in his latest investment memo that a fundamental argument for investing in cryptocurrencies is that crypto will reshape the fundamentals of finance. There are already three real-world examples: Bitcoin reshaping gold, stablecoins reshaping the US dollar, and tokenization transforming trading and settlement. This week, Coinbase announced the launch of a new ICO platform, adding a fourth disruptive innovation: capital formation. Despite the many issues during the 2017-2018 ICO boom, it proved one thing: cryptocurrencies can be used to quickly raise funds for new projects. With the new regulatory policies from the current SEC Chairman Paul Atkins and the launch of Coinbase’s new ICO platform, ICO 2.0 will experience a revival. He predicts that by 2026, at least six billion-dollar ICO projects will be seen through platforms like Coinbase. Over time, more projects will prefer the direct ICO model rather than traditional IPOs. Regarding investment strategies, he states that the most obvious target is Coinbase, which is not just a crypto exchange like Charles Schwab but more like Charles Schwab + Goldman Sachs + NYSE +… Additionally, a healthy ICO market will benefit programmable blockchains like Ethereum and Solana.
