More than a dozen House Democrats spoke during the call, with the vast majority criticizing the agreement, reflecting deep divisions between the two chambers. One congressman who participated in the call stated, “Almost everyone strongly opposed” the agreement. About half of the speaking lawmakers directly criticized Senate Minority Leader Schumer, or indirectly expressed dissatisfaction with Schumer by agreeing with previous speakers who criticized him.
