US bearish traders: The service life of aging nuclear missiles may be extended to 2050.

On September 10, Jin10 reported that U.S. Air Force officials told congressional auditors that the aging "Minuteman III" intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) produced by Boeing could be extended in service until 2050. This missile has been the core of the land-based portion of the U.S. nuclear triad strategy and has been in service for over half a century. The extension plan will add 11 years to the original lifespan. The "Minuteman III" has been on alert status since the 1970s. According to a declassified assessment released by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on Wednesday, if there are further delays and cost increases in Northrop Grumman's development of the new "Sentinel" ICBM program, the Air Force may activate a backup plan to extend the "Minuteman III" — but this will face increasingly severe challenges regarding components, supply chain, and personnel.
