Jin10 Data, August 8 – Meta Platforms (META.O) is at the forefront of developing computer thinking that surpasses human intelligence, led by a team called TBD Lab, which comprises many researchers poached from competing labs, some earning tens of millions or even hundreds of millions. According to insiders, TBD Lab (to be determined) is spearheading the development of the latest version of the large language model Llama. Last week, Alexander Wang, the Chief AI Officer overseeing Meta's Superintelligence Lab, wrote in a memo to employees that TBD Lab will collaborate with Meta's other AI teams on various projects, including the upcoming model, expansion of model inference capabilities, and development of AI agents. The new Llama project is led by Jack Rae, who was hired from Google to join TBD Lab. Members of Meta's existing Llama team and TBD Lab are working together to develop this product. The model does not have an official name yet, but some internally refer to it as Llama4.5 and Llama 4.
