The results of the local elections in the UK expose the crisis of Labour's governance, with the Reform Party emerging as a dark horse.
Jin10 Data reported on May 3 that the results of the local elections in the UK were announced on May 2 local time. According to results released by British media, the right-wing party Reform UK secured the most local council seats, totaling 674. The ruling Labour Party ranked fourth among the six parties, obtaining 99 seats, while the Conservative Party came in second with 316 seats, losing 672 of their previous seats. This election is the first local election held in the UK since the Labour Party came to power after winning the general election in July 2024 and is seen as a significant test for the Labour Party’s governance. Experts pointed out that a series of measures taken by the Labour Party since coming to power have led to a decline in its support rate, impacting the traditional two-party structure in British politics.
