Gate News, March 19 — Tally, a leading DAO governance platform, has announced its closure after nearly six years of operation. The platform provided on-chain voting and delegation services to over 500 DAOs, including major projects such as Uniswap and Arbitrum.
Tally cited unsustainable business models and shifting market dynamics as primary reasons for the shutdown. Despite plans to conduct an ICO earlier this year, the platform made the abrupt decision to cease operations.
CEO Dennison Bertram pointed to several key factors behind the closure: the lack of venture-backed governance tool companies in the space, and the crypto industry’s continued focus on payments and speculation rather than governance infrastructure. Additionally, the U.S. SEC’s relaxed regulatory stance on crypto assets has reduced demand for governance tools.
The shutdown highlights the fragility of decentralized governance ecosystems and has prompted the DAO community to seek alternative solutions and reassess the long-term sustainability of governance infrastructures.
