Gate.io News bot-Nachricht, laut Cointelegraph hat der Celsius-Gründer Alex Mashinsky gegen die vom US-Justizministerium vorgeschlagene 20-jährige Haftstrafe Einspruch eingelegt. Mashinsky gestand im Dezember 2024 die Anklage wegen Warenbetrugs und der Manipulation des CEL-Token-Preises und erzielte vor dem Zusammenbruch von Celsius einen Gewinn von 48 Millionen Dollar durch den Verkauf von Tokens.

Das Anwaltsteam reichte am 5. Mai ein Antwortmemorandum beim Bezirksgericht New York ein und beantragte, die Haftstrafe auf weniger als 366 Tage zu reduzieren. Das Anwaltsteam wies darauf hin, dass Mashinsky als nicht gewalttätiger Ersttäter eine makellose 30-jährige Geschäftslaufbahn vorweisen kann.
