Donald Trump had resigned from the SEC Chairmanship on the day he began his presidency.
While the name Paul Atkins appointed by Trump as the head of the SEC awaits Senate confirmation, SEC Member Mark Uyeda is temporarily presiding over the SEC.
The long-awaited day has finally arrived, and it has been stated that SEC Chair nominee Paul Atkins will appear before the Senate Banking Committee for the long-awaited confirmation hearing on March 27 next week.
According to the published schedule, the committee will decide on March 27 whether Atkins is a suitable candidate to replace Gary Gensler and will also evaluate other crypto-friendly nominations.
After Atkins’ opening speech, committee members will pose questions on certain topics. If Atkins manages to pass the committee, he will then need to receive approval from the Senate as well. However, if the Senate also approves, he will begin his role as SEC Chairman.
Paul Atkins, who previously served as a commissioner at the SEC, is now providing strong support for Bitcoin (BTC) and cryptocurrencies.
At this point, Paul Atkins’ assumption of the SEC Chair position is of great significance for the cryptocurrency market. This is because there are pending applications to add staking to Ethereum ETFs as well as ETF applications for altcoins like XRP and Solana before the SEC. Paul Atkins’ appointment is expected to be decisive for the decisions regarding these applications.
