How does the DePIN project leverage Solana to build a decentralization physical network?

1、What is DePIN?

Decentralization Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) is the name given to a Blockchain network that uses Token to incentivize communities (rather than companies) to build a physical infrastructure network from scratch (such as mobile, EV charging, telecommunications, etc.).

2. Explore DePIN and Blockchain Connectivity

In the large-scale infrastructure space, with the advent of DePIN, we are witnessing a shift from the usual top-down approach. Unlike the traditional model of central agency leadership, DePIN advocates decentralization, decentralizing decision-making power across the network to improve adaptability. So why the emphasis on Blockchain? Blockchain technology has proven to perfectly complement DePIN by ensuring data security through transparency and immutability. Smart Contracts increase efficiency by automating processes. This off-the-center approach not only makes the network more inclusive, but it also prevents vulnerabilities. In embracing DePIN, infrastructure design is a big step toward a more resilient, decentralization, and self-coordinated future.

The downside of this model lies in its inherent incentive structure, which encourages the provision of services primarily to those with the highest financial means. As a result, this has led to a concentration of resources and power dynamics, leaving a subset of end-users underserved and disadvantaged in the overall program.

3. How Solana can help with this

DePIN projects leverage Solana to build a decentralization physical network that takes advantage of its scalability and low gas fees. Solana’s architecture, with features such as localized fee marketplace and parallelization, enhances robustness and scalability, making it ideal for these projects.

DePIN proposes a strategy that involves incentivizing others to join, thereby sharing the workload and providing a path to scalable functionality. This approach draws inspiration from P2P networks, which are the infrastructure of many permissionless Blockchains that provide a solid framework for projects to scale effectively.

Here, when we juxtapose the basic structure and utilization of Solana, the Helium network, and the rendering network, you can observe the similarities between them.

Let’s dive into some of the innovative projects that have chosen Solana as their expanded core infrastructure.

4. Teleportation

Teleport is an Open Source and Decentralization version of Uber. They are building a global network of drivers and passengers by incentivizing network operators in real-time.

They’re turning ride-sharing into a protocol, and centralized ride-sharing services often need to get the market to set a fair price. Instead, they set their own prices and maximize the value they can extract. Decentralization of carpooling means more money goes to drivers, passengers pay less per ride, and more money stays in the local economy.

The key difference is Teleport’s commitment to Decentralization and real-time incentives for its network operators. Unlike its centralized counterparts, which price autonomously, Teleport supports a peer-to-peer system where market dynamics dictate fair pricing. This unique approach ensures that more money goes directly to drivers, and passengers can drop the cost per ride and realize a huge economic impact at the local level.

5、Helium

Helium is well-known in the Solana ecosystem and is one of the largest DePIN projects on Solana to date.

Helium is an exciting Blockchain project that aims to decentralize how smart devices communicate with each other. Helium started out as an Internet of Things (IoT) network for communication between smart devices. Coverage is provided by a hotspot device that doubles as a wireless access point and Miner.

Helium Network has expanded to hundreds of thousands of such hotspot devices, providing extensive coverage in the United States, Europe, and most other metropolitan areas. It is a significant player in the Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) industry.

The team successfully migrated to Solana in the second quarter of this year. Soon after, Nova Labs announced the launch of the Helium Mobile Unlimited Package, which offers unlimited texting, calling, and data services for just $5 per month. It is currently only available in the United States. This strategic move aims to take advantage of Solana’s scalability, low transaction costs, and high performance, including its fast transaction throughput and energy-efficient Consensus Mechanism. Migrating to Solana provides key benefits for the Helium network: it enables IoT and mobile networks to support greater scale, support more complex proof-of-coverage algorithms, and enhance the resilience of the network, making it a more robust solution for demand-demand applications

6、Render

Render Rendering Network is the first Decentralization GPU rendering platform that enables artists to scale GPU rendering jobs on-demand to high-performance GPU Nodes around the world.

The rendering network is designed to provide a platform for a wide range of computing tasks, from basic rendering to machine learning training to complex computing, facilitated quickly and efficiently without errors or delays in a Blockchain-based peer-to-peer network, while ensuring property rights security.

The Render team deployed a new token called RENDER on Solana for the community to participate in and earn some rewards by providing GPUs to users. 1.14 million RNDR tokens have been provided to participants to migrate from ETH to Solana and pay gas fees.

Jules Urbach, Founder and Architect of Render Network, said: "Moving Render’s core infrastructure to Solana was a watershed moment that unlocked major new features such as live streaming and dynamic Non-fungible Tokens. 」

"As we continue to build scalable and Decentralization Metaverse infrastructure, Solana’s incredible transaction speed, low cost, and commitment to network-scale architecture make it a perfect fit for rendering the network. 」

These projects have Solana at their core for higher availability, scalability, faster execution, and lower transaction gas fees. Solana has always been a top choice for entrepreneurs because of its fast speed and low processing fees.

7. Summary

In conclusion, the relationship between the DePIN project and Solana exemplifies the transformative potential of decentralization infrastructure. Through their commitment to decentralization, Teleport, Helium, and Render Network leverage the scalability and efficiency of Solana to redefine traditional models in ride-sharing, IoT communication, and GPU rendering.

Solana’s role as a speed catalyst, dropTransaction Fee, and network-scale architecture make it the go-to choice for entrepreneurs navigating Decentralization future. Because these projects integrate seamlessly with Solana, they not only address the limitations of centralized systems, but also point the way to building a more inclusive, resilient, and dynamic Decentralization physical network.
