I just saw that the situation in the Middle East is escalating more than many expected. Israel's military operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon have become much more aggressive in recent days, focusing on what they call the group's weapons depots and rocket launch sites.
The interesting thing is that Israel argues these depots violate the agreements reached in November 2024. According to their statements, the infrastructure they are attacking was built to rebuild capabilities that could threaten the country. The Israeli Army is clear on this: as long as they see threats, they will continue to act regardless of what the pact says.
But here’s the complex part. Since the ceasefire was signed a few months ago, Israel has carried out dozens of bombings in Lebanese territory. Beirut constantly protests, but the most serious issue is that the Israeli military still maintains five military posts inside Lebanon, something President Joseph Aoun has called a blatant violation of the agreement. International pressure is there, but it seems insufficient.
Meanwhile, more than 80,000 Lebanese remain displaced. The humanitarian situation is concerning, but military operations do not stop.
In parallel, last Saturday, Israeli forces reported similar incidents in northern Gaza. They identified what they call armed terrorists emerging from tunnels near Israeli positions, and according to their reports, they attacked and neutralized some of them. Israel again talks about violations of the ceasefire.
What I observe is a clear pattern: both sides accuse each other of violations, military operations continue under the pretext of ensuring security, and civilians are caught in the middle. The dynamics of these conflicts are such that each action triggers a reaction, and ceasefire agreements seem more like tactical pauses than real solutions.
