It seems Elon Musk has started something interesting again. It’s Tesla’s new autonomous home project, and apparently they’re serious about bringing it to market.
Basically, it’s an ultra-compact home. Sizes are said to range from 26 square meters to 76 square meters. Prices start at about $7,999 at the lowest. The idea that you can buy a house for this price is honestly shocking.
What’s interesting is that it’s designed to be completely self-sufficient. It’s equipped with Tesla’s solar panels and Powerwall (エネルギー貯蔵システム), so it can function without relying on the public power grid. What’s more, it also has a rainwater collection system, so you don’t have to pay water bills. It’s packed with Elon Musk’s approach of “making it work while cutting costs to the extreme.”
The aim of this Elon Musk home project is said to be to realize a “life free from monthly public charges and mortgage payments.” In other words, once you buy it, you just handle upkeep and the financial burden is nearly eliminated.
It’s scheduled to go to market in 2026, so it’s coming soon. For people who are struggling with high urban rent and maintenance costs, it could become a fairly innovative option. I think it’s worth keeping an eye on how the concept of an Elon Musk home will change the future housing market.
