Face the things you fear, and the fear will naturally disappear. There is an exposure therapy in psychology: the more afraid you are of something, the more actively you should confront it. Fear gradually diminishes through repeated practice, just like if you're afraid of the dark—if you keep hiding under a light source, you might be afraid forever; but when you try walking a night route, you'll realize that darkness itself isn't that scary. As long as you dare to take the first step, you've already reduced your fear by 50%. The essence of fear is imagination of the unknown. We’re not afraid of the thing itself, but of the various images our minds conjure up. The more you hide, the bigger the monster in your mind becomes; the more you do, the weaker it gets. Doing it once means you’ve won; doing it more makes you stronger. Everything you avoid controls you; everything you face can heal you.
