One of Silicon Valley's most successful money-makers offers a piece of advice to young people.
It's not about entrepreneurship, not about investing, but—
"Health is the top priority."
His name is Naval @naval
He has invested in over 200 companies, with a return of over 1,000 times.
But he says the best investment he's ever made is exercising every day.
1. Without health, wealth is meaningless
"You can have 1 billion dollars, but if you wake up every day in pain, anxious, and unable to sleep, you're suffering more than a poor person in good health."
2. Health is the only thing that cannot be outsourced
Money can be earned with help, work can be delegated.
But you can't ask someone to do your workouts, and you can't ask someone to sleep for you.
Health can only be managed personally.
3. How Naval does it
· Exercise: Find an activity you'll be willing to stick with for a lifetime. Not painful gym workouts, but something you truly enjoy.
· Diet: No dieting, but avoid processed foods. "Your body is the product of millions of years of evolution; it doesn't recognize potato chips."
· Sleep: Sleep as long as you want. "No great invention in human history has been achieved through staying up all night."
· Meditation: 60 minutes every day. Mental health is just as important as physical health.
4. The most impactful quote
"90% of people are trading health for money, then trying to buy back health with money. But once health is lost, money can't buy it back."
