Golden Finance reports that on March 27, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce answered journalists’ questions regarding the U.S.’s initiation of two trade barrier investigations. The spokesperson said that, on March 12 Beijing time, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative launched a 301 investigation against China and 15 other economic entities on the grounds of “excess capacity,” and on March 13 launched another 301 investigation against China and 59 other economic entities on the grounds of “not effectively prohibiting the import of forced labor products.” The Chinese side is strongly dissatisfied with this and firmly opposes it. Next, the Ministry of Commerce will, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Foreign Trade Law and the Trade Barrier Investigation Rules, advance the trade barrier investigation work against the U.S., and, based on the investigation findings, take appropriate measures to resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
