Tokyo Electric Power Company announced on March 24th that the discharge of contaminated water from Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant for the 2025 fiscal year (April 2025 to March 2026) has been completed, totaling approximately 55,000 tons. The press release states that all seven discharges of contaminated water in the 2025 fiscal year have been completed, amounting to 55,011 tons, with a total radioactive tritium level of about 160 trillion becquerels. The company plans to conduct eight discharges of contaminated water in the 2026 fiscal year, totaling about 62,400 tons. Ignoring strong international criticism and opposition, Japan unilaterally began discharging Fukushima Daiichi’s contaminated water into the ocean in August 2023. To date, 18 discharges have been completed, totaling approximately 141,000 tons. (CCTV News)
