Wang Yi Had a Phone Call with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian
People’s Financial News, March 24 — Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke on the phone with Iranian Foreign Minister Alireza Enayati on March 24. Enayati briefed on the latest developments in the regional situation and thanked China for providing emergency humanitarian aid. He stated that the Iranian people are more united in resisting external aggression and defending national sovereignty and independence. Iran is committed to achieving a comprehensive ceasefire, not just a temporary one. The Strait of Hormuz is open to all, and ships can pass safely, but warring countries are not under consideration. He hopes all parties take measures that help de-escalate the situation rather than escalate the conflict. Iran looks forward to China continuing to play a positive role in promoting peace and stopping the war. Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s principled stance, emphasizing that all hot-button issues should be resolved through dialogue and negotiation, not force. Talking is always better than fighting. This benefits Iran’s national and people’s interests and aligns with the common wishes of the international community. He hopes all parties seize every opportunity and window for peace to quickly start peace talks. China will continue to uphold an objective and fair stance, oppose violations of other countries’ sovereignty, actively promote peace and ceasefire, and work toward regional peace and stability.
