Beam CEO: AI Disruption Is a Choice, Not a Foregone Conclusion
Deep Tide TechFlow News, March 24 — According to Fortune, Beam CEO Alex Stephany wrote that Palantir CEO Alex Karp’s prediction that AI will weaken the economic status of workers with a humanistic background is fundamentally a subjective choice, not an unavoidable outcome. The article points out that while rapid AI development has generated enormous wealth, the U.S. unemployment rate has hit a four-year high, and the wealth gap continues to widen. Technological progress does not necessarily equate to social progress.
Stephany believes AI should prioritize serving fields with severe labor shortages, such as healthcare, social services, and infrastructure, to improve efficiency while avoiding large-scale worker displacement. He also emphasizes that AI tools should be developed collaboratively with frontline workers, rather than unilaterally imposed. He calls on industry leaders to stop predicting who will be left behind by the times and instead actively decide who will be uplifted by technology.
