US Regulators Escalate Investigation into Tesla Autopilot Low-Visibility Performance

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Defect Investigation Office announced on Thursday that it is upgrading its investigation into Tesla’s Fully Autonomous Driving (Supervised) software’s performance in low visibility conditions. The investigation, which began in October 2024, has been elevated to an “engineering analysis,” the agency’s highest level of review. This is typically an important step before requiring companies to issue recalls. This is one of two investigations by the Defect Investigation Office into Tesla’s Fully Autonomous Driving (Supervised) software. (Sina Finance)
