Alphabet is preparing a major expansion of operations in India

Google’s parent company, Alphabet, plans to significantly expand its presence in the Indian market. According to media reports, the company is actively working on plans to occupy millions of square feet of modern office space in Bangalore, the country’s main tech hub.

New Office Complex in Elm Vibe City Project

According to available information, Alphabet has already signed a lease for an office building within the Elm Vibe City project. Additionally, the company has secured rights to acquire two more administrative buildings within the same complex. This project is part of the well-known Whitefield tech corridor, which spans a total of 2.4 million square feet, allowing for the accommodation of many leading tech companies.

Opening and Operational Timeline

The first of the leased buildings is scheduled to open in the coming months to host employees. Construction of the two additional facilities is expected to be completed within the next year. Once all office spaces are fully occupied, the new campus will be able to accommodate up to 20,000 new workers.

Strategic Importance for Company Growth

Implementing this plan is particularly significant in the context of Alphabet’s current activities in India. The company is already hiring around 14,000 employees in the country, and the proposed expansion could more than double its local workforce. Meanwhile, Alphabet’s global workforce is approximately 190,000 people, indicating that India is becoming an increasingly important center for the company. This substantial increase in presence underscores the growing strategic role of the Indian market in the global development plans of the tech giant.
