Amit Zavery, a seasoned executive who helped transform Google Cloud and spent nearly three decades building enterprise platforms at Oracle, is now stepping into a pivotal role as president, chief product officer, and chief operating officer at ServiceNow. Starting October 28, 2024, Zavery will oversee the company’s entire product, engineering, cloud infrastructure, and operations—positioning himself at the center of ServiceNow’s push to dominate the AI platform space for business transformation.

The Track Record That Got Him the Job

Zavery’s resume reads like a masterclass in scaling enterprise software. During his nearly six years at Google Cloud, he served as VP and head of platform, helping grow the business into the world’s fourth-largest enterprise software company. Under his leadership, the division’s annualized revenue exploded from $7 billion to over $41 billion—a staggering 485% increase—while the company simultaneously improved operating margins by more than 70 percentage points. That’s not just growth; that’s operational excellence at an unprecedented scale.

Before Google, Zavery spent a quarter-century at Oracle, starting as a software engineer and eventually climbing to executive vice president of product development. In that role, he commanded a team of 4,500 engineers and oversaw product lines generating more than $6 billion in annual revenue. His portfolio spanned cloud platforms, middleware, security, analytics, and Java—essentially the backbone of enterprise computing.

Why This Hire Matters for ServiceNow

ServiceNow’s leadership clearly sees Zavery as the architect they need to cement the company’s position in AI-driven business transformation. The appointment signals confidence that the right product leadership—combined with deep technical expertise and proven ability to scale globally—can amplify ServiceNow’s competitive advantage.

Bill McDermott, ServiceNow’s chairman and CEO, emphasized the strategic fit: “We wanted a visionary product and engineering leader with a proven history of building market-defining products and scaling world-class platforms.”

Zavery’s approach centers on customer-centric engineering, ensuring that cutting-edge technologies—especially generative AI—translate into real solutions for enterprise challenges. His mandate includes driving innovation while maintaining operational rigor across the entire product organization.

What This Means Going Forward

With three decades of enterprise technology experience, Zavery is tasked with pushing ServiceNow’s boundaries in AI integration, platform development, and market leadership. His appointment signals the company’s commitment to attracting top-tier talent from the industry’s heavyweight institutions and reinforces ServiceNow’s position as a destination for enterprise innovation at scale.
