SmartRent, Inc. (SMRT), a provider of smart communities and smart operations solutions for the rental housing industry, announced that Shane Paladin has relinquished his roles as President and CEO effective immediately, following a request by the Board of Directors. His departure from the Board was also confirmed simultaneously.
The Board has moved quickly to address the leadership transition, with John Dorman, who serves as Chairman of the Board, assuming the position of interim CEO. Alison Dean has been designated as lead independent director to strengthen the governance structure during this transitional period.
To ensure operational continuity and a seamless handover of responsibilities, Paladin will continue engaging with the company in an advisory capacity for the next three months. This arrangement is designed to minimize disruption to ongoing business initiatives and strategic planning.
The tenure of Paladin in the top leadership positions lasted just over twelve months. His professional background includes serving as CEO at Siteimprove, a private equity-supported marketing technology SaaS enterprise. Prior to his Siteimprove appointment, he held multiple senior executive positions within SAP SE (SAP), the multinational enterprise software corporation, including the role of Chief Operating Officer overseeing SAP Greater China operations.
The Board has engaged an executive search firm to identify qualified candidates for the permanent CEO position. The recruitment process is currently underway, with the firm actively screening and assessing potential leaders to guide SmartRent’s future direction.
