#钱包被盗和资金损失 An analysis of on-chain data related to the Trust Wallet incident reveals several details worth noting. From the timeline, the attacker began reconnaissance on December 8th, successfully implanted a backdoor on the 22nd, and only started large-scale fund transfers on Christmas Day—the 25th. This indicates that hackers are very deliberate about their timing, as response times during holidays tend to be slower. To date, approximately $7 million has been stolen, involving hundreds of wallets.

More critically, the core vulnerability: the official source code was compromised, leading to the browser extension version being tampered with. This means that the version users downloaded, which appeared legitimate, was actually contaminated, breaking the trust chain directly. From a defensive perspective, this serves as a wake-up call for all wallet applications—security isolation in code auditing and release processes must be re-evaluated.

The good news is that the compensation process has been initiated, requiring submission of information such as the stolen address, attacker’s receiving address, and transaction hash. The official team has pledged to fully cover the losses. For victims who have not yet submitted claims, the next step is to gather these data and apply for compensation through official support channels. Do not trust any non-official compensation promises.

Events like this remind us: popular applications are more likely to become attack targets. Regularly checking extension version numbers and verifying installation sources remain essential actions.
