Ceará Information Technology Company (Etice) aims to facilitate the state’s Bitcoin mining activities by providing the necessary infrastructure. This was confirmed by the company’s president, Hugo Figueirêdo, in an interview.
“The cryptocurrency mining sector uses data centers that consume large amounts of energy. These data centers can be located in Ceará, which has abundant renewable energy and competitive prices. Etice can provide infrastructure through its fiber optic digital network to attract and connect these specialized data centers,” Figueirêdo said.
Etice is a wholly state-controlled corporation, with the goal of creating technological solutions for the public administration of the federation unit.
According to Hugo Figueirêdo, the company does not plan to directly mine Bitcoin in its data centers; these centers will focus on sovereign data processing to provide public services to the people of Ceará.
Etice’s interest in cryptocurrency mining was initially expressed by the company’s president during an interview. The executive also explained that the company is now actively seeking business opportunities in the artificial intelligence sector.
Etice’s revenue in 2025 is approximately 500 million reais, with 80% of the funds coming from services provided, and only 20% involving digital network operations—the most prominent asset. The executive stated that if the Ceará government does not inject 50 million reais, the company will end the year with a loss of 10 million reais.
Ceará’s digital network is a fiber optic broadband infrastructure created by Etice in 2007, currently extending 5,800 kilometers across the state, covering 130 municipalities, with the goal of covering all 184 municipalities of Ceará.
