Lionstone Investments Unveils Major Leadership Restructuring with Executive Promotions

Lionstone Investments has revealed significant changes to its executive team, effective June 1, 2021, marking a pivotal moment in the firm’s organizational development. Bryan Sanchez will step into the Chief Executive Officer position, transitioning from his current role as Chief Investment Officer. Simultaneously, Andy Lusk has been elevated to Chief Investment Officer, while retaining his responsibilities as Head of Corporate Strategy. Bailey Jones, previously Managing Director of Real Estate Acquisitions, will assume the position of Head of Acquisitions.

Leadership Change Reflects Long-Term Strategic Planning

The restructuring at Lionstone Investments stems from comprehensive succession planning initiated in 2014, designed to cultivate the next generation of organizational leaders. Jane Page, who has guided the firm since joining in 2012 and serving as CEO from 2014 onward, will shift to the role of Chairman. This move ensures continuity while enabling fresh leadership to drive future growth. Page will remain engaged with the organization alongside Sanchez, both reporting to Ted Truscott, Chief Executive Officer of Columbia Threadneedle Investments, the parent company.

Executive Track Records and Achievements

Under the combined stewardship of Page and Sanchez, Lionstone Investments has achieved remarkable growth, doubling its assets under management. Page’s tenure has been marked by directing the firm’s acquisition by Columbia Threadneedle in 2017 and establishing the acclaimed ESG+R program, which earned recognition in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark Assessments (GRESB).

Sanchez brings substantial investment expertise to his new position. Since joining Lionstone in 2005, he has progressed through key roles, becoming co-Chief Investment Officer in 2015 and sole CIO in 2017. His contributions include overseeing more than $4 billion in acquisitions and enhancing the firm’s proprietary analytics investment framework.

Lusk, now assuming the Chief Investment Officer role, has been instrumental in shaping Lionstone’s growth strategy. His dual focus on acquisitions and corporate strategy has strengthened both the firm’s deal pipeline and long-term competitive positioning.

Columbia Threadneedle Investments operates as the asset management group of Ameriprise Financial, Inc. (NYSE: AMP).

Leadership Perspectives on the Transition

Ted Truscott, CEO of Columbia Threadneedle Investments, expressed confidence in the transition: “Jane’s seven-year tenure as CEO has delivered substantial value to Lionstone and its investor base. The firm is positioned well for continued success under Bryan’s leadership, with Andy’s investment expertise driving strategy execution.”

Bryan Sanchez commented on assuming the chief executive role: “Lionstone is well-situated to maintain its track record of disciplined, strategic investments. Andy’s appointment as Chief Investment Officer strengthens our ability to deliver innovative real estate solutions. His guidance has been instrumental in solidifying our investment performance and expansion.”

Jane Page reflected on her leadership period: “Leading such an innovative and results-oriented organization has been deeply rewarding. Our long-term investor returns have been exceptional, and I remain confident in the leadership team’s ability to sustain this momentum under new direction.”
