DAT Freight & Analytics has promoted Jeff Clementz to Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant leadership transition for North America’s largest truckload freight marketplace operator. Clementz, who joined DAT in 2023 as Chief Product Officer, will continue overseeing product strategy until a successor is appointed to that role.
Strategic Leadership Shift at DAT
The appointment reflects DAT’s confidence in Clementz’s ability to drive the company forward. During his tenure as CPO, he has reshaped DAT’s operational culture with a strong focus on customer needs and product innovation. His track record spans 25 years across some of the world’s most successful digital platforms. Before DAT, Clementz served as president and CEO of Shift, an e-commerce platform serving the automotive industry. He also held key roles at Walmart’s Marketplace division, where he built the retail giant’s core commerce infrastructure, and previously worked in senior product and operations positions at PayPal, eBay, and Intel across multiple geographies.
Satish Maripuri, DAT’s Interim CEO and Group Executive at parent company Roper Technologies, praised the selection: “Jeff’s success building and scaling innovative marketplace platforms directly supports DAT’s core mission—intelligently connecting freight carriers, brokers, and shippers to move freight efficiently and profitably. As Chief Product Officer, he has driven meaningful improvements in fraud prevention, analytics capabilities, and platform resilience while fostering a customer-obsessed culture.”
Expanded Responsibilities for Tony Salazar
In parallel, DAT Freight & Analytics announced that Tony Salazar has expanded his responsibilities as Chief Financial Officer to now also serve as Chief Operating Officer. Salazar, who joined DAT in 2018 from Intel where he was General Manager and Senior Director of Finance & Business Operations, brings over two decades of technology sector experience. His expertise encompasses strategic planning, revenue optimization, operations management, and financial analysis.
In his expanded role, Salazar will coordinate DAT’s strategic growth initiatives and operational objectives while driving continuous improvement throughout the organization. “Tony’s combination of strategic insight and financial discipline positions DAT to achieve operational excellence while maintaining rigorous financial stewardship,” Maripuri noted. “He will be instrumental in strengthening our position as the industry’s leading freight marketplace and data analytics provider.”
