Mirasol Launches Drilling Campaign at Sobek Project: Strategic Play in Chile's High-Potential Porphyry Zone

Drilling Commences at Key Potro SE Target

Mirasol Resources Ltd. (TSX-V: MRZ; OTC: MRZLF) has initiated drilling operations at the Potro SE target on its wholly-owned Sobek Copper-Gold Project in Chile’s Vicuña District. The move marks a significant step in exploring what the company views as a concealed porphyry system with considerable upside potential.

The Potro SE prospect benefits from an advantageous geographical position—situated just 3 kilometers from NGEx’s Lunahuasi copper-gold discovery. This proximity to an established mineralized system provides geological context supporting the target’s merit. The drilling program represents the first phase of a two-part campaign planned for the current exploration season at the Sobek property.

Geophysical Confirmation Supports Drilling Decision

Multiple technical indicators converged to justify drilling at Potro SE. The target exhibits a distinctive cylindrical-shaped magnetic anomaly identified through airborne magnetic surveys. Ground-based electrical geophysics work has recently been completed to refine the geometry and depth extent of the porphyry target.

The geological case rests on several aligned data sets. Copper-molybdenum geochemical anomalies sourced from soil sampling and rock chips provide surface confirmation. An induced polarization (IP) survey revealed elevated chargeability response spatially associated with the magnetic feature. Critically, the target sits at the intersection of two productive fault structures—the Maranceles Fault and the Ventana Fault—with the latter continuing northeastward toward Lunahuasi. These coincident geological, geophysical, geochemical, and alteration attributes collectively support the porphyry target thesis.

Drilling Parameters and Timeline

A diamond drill is now on-site conducting the exploration program. The first planned drill hole targets the porphyry system at depth, with the mineralized zone anticipated to begin at 250-350 meters below surface. The hole will extend to a total depth of 700-800 meters to adequately test the target geometry. Mirasol anticipates completing the drilling program within 25-30 days.

Advancing the Broader Sobek Trend

While drilling progresses at Potro SE in the Sobek North portion of the property, exploration activity continues at Sobek Central to advance the second high-priority drilling target—Sobek 46 South. This target represents the southern extension of a 3-kilometer-long trend of porphyry prospects within the Sobek project area.

The Sobek 46 South target connects to the VN-Zone, a significant mineralized system interpreted as the northern expression of an extensive hydrothermal corridor. This zone extends southward for more than 3 kilometers, linking multiple porphyry targets across the property. Notably, the VN-Zone trend is positioned on a structural corridor parallel to Filo Mining’s Filo del Sol Project, located 7 kilometers to the east—reinforcing the regional prospectivity of the Vicuña district.

Infrastructure Development for Sustained Exploration

To facilitate drilling at Sobek 46 South later this season, Mirasol is constructing a 2.5-kilometer access road. Beyond logistical support for future drill mobilization, this road infrastructure enables ongoing ground-based geophysical work and systematic grid-based geochemical soil sampling. These programs will refine and potentially extend the porphyry target trend southward.

Strategic Context in the Vicuña Copper-Gold District

The Sobek project’s strategic positioning reflects a deliberate exploration approach. Mirasol staked the property in 2016 based on compelling local geology and structural architecture, prior to the 2021 discovery of the high-grade feeder zone at Filo del Sol and the 2023 discovery at Lunahuasi. The company has progressively expanded and consolidated its Sobek tenure to control a substantial property package.

Sobek operates within a prospective geological setting characterized by north-south trending mineralized structures cross-cut by a deeper north-northwest trending trans-cordilleran lineament. This structural configuration is recognized as a common host for significant Andean metal deposits across Chile and Argentina.

About the Company

Mirasol Resources has 20 years of operating, permitting, and community relations experience in the mineral-rich regions of Chile and Argentina. Beyond Sobek, the company operates the Inca Gold project in Chile and controls the Virginia Silver Deposit in Argentina. The company maintains a pipeline of early and mid-stage exploration projects and is currently self-funding its flagship operations.
