Red Arts Capital, the Chicago-based investment firm managing over $300 million in assets under management, has brought aboard Sherina Maye Edwards as CEO-in-Residence to accelerate its expansion strategy in the critical utility services and infrastructure modernization sector.
In this strategic role, Edwards will focus on identifying and scaling partnerships with companies and management teams that support the modernization of America’s electrical grid and address aging infrastructure challenges across the nation. Her appointment signals Red Arts’ deepening commitment to the utility infrastructure investment thesis it has cultivated over years of sector specialization.
A Proven Track Record in Energy Infrastructure
Edwards brings substantial executive credentials to the position. Most recently, she served as President and Chief Executive Officer of INTREN, the utility infrastructure subsidiary of MasTec—a Fortune 500 company with $14 billion in market capitalization. During her tenure leading INTREN, Edwards demonstrated her ability to navigate complex operational environments in the energy supply chain sector. Prior to that role, she held the position of Chief Strategy Officer at MasTec, where she oversaw the strategic evolution of the company’s power delivery operations.
Her expertise extends beyond corporate leadership. Edwards previously worked as a regulatory partner specializing in energy and utilities law at Quarles & Brady, providing counsel on complex infrastructure matters. Her regulatory knowledge deepened through a five-year appointment to the Illinois Commerce Commission, where she gained firsthand insight into the policy landscape shaping the sector.
Government Service and Board Leadership
Edwards’ commitment to infrastructure extends to public service. In 2016, she was appointed by President Barack Obama and U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx to serve as Co-Chair of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Voluntary Information-Sharing System Working Group, where she advised federal leadership on protecting sensitive infrastructure information.
Currently, Edwards serves on the boards of Nexus Water Group, Midland States Bank, Northwestern Energy, and Spelman College.
Strategic Vision for Red Arts
“Red Arts’ commitment to modernizing and strengthening the state of infrastructure supply chains in the U.S. is a mission that deeply resonates with me,” Edwards said. “As the firm continues to expand its impact, I’m excited to help identify and support businesses tackling the largest problems in this sector.”
According to Nick Antoine, Co-CEO and Managing Partner of Red Arts Capital, “Sherina has led remarkable growth across both private and public companies in utility and energy supply chains. Her extensive regulatory, legal, and executive experience will be essential as we continue to address the evolving needs of our investors, portfolio companies, and other key stakeholders.”
