A Veteran Investment Banker Strengthens Barclays’ Technology Franchise
Barclays has bolstered its Technology Investment Banking leadership with the arrival of Rob Patterson, a seasoned banker transitioning from Morgan Stanley to take charge of the firm’s Data & Information Platforms Coverage unit. Headquartered in New York, Patterson will operate under the oversight of Kristin Roth DeClark, Global Head of Technology Investment Banking at Barclays.
Extensive Track Record in Financial Services
Patterson’s career spans nearly two decades in investment banking, most recently at Morgan Stanley where he held the rank of Managing Director. During his tenure at Morgan Stanley, he spearheaded the Marketing, Information and Technology-enabled Services investment banking vertical, managing numerous high-profile M&A transactions and capital markets engagements. His client roster includes industry heavyweights such as Accenture, Nielsen, Experian, RELX, Verisk, PWC, and Interpublic, among many others.
Having joined Morgan Stanley in 2006, Patterson previously accumulated banking experience at UBS starting in 2004. His deep expertise in data and information infrastructure sectors, combined with an extensive network of C-suite relationships, positions him to deliver substantial strategic value to Barclays’ institutional clients.
Accelerating Technology Banking Momentum
“Rob’s sophisticated understanding of the Data & Information space is precisely what we need as we scale our Technology Banking capabilities,” commented Kristin Roth DeClark. “His transactional expertise and client relationships will prove instrumental as we continue building momentum in this sector.”
Patterson’s appointment reflects Barclays’ continued investment in top-tier talent across its investment banking operations. The move follows the recent hiring of David King as Global Head of Technology M&A, based in San Francisco, underscoring the firm’s strategic prioritization of the technology sector.
Track Record of Landmark Transactions
Barclays has demonstrated significant capability in technology advisory work, recently serving as lead financial advisor on several transformative deals. These include the CVC acquisition of a controlling stake in Epicor, alongside representing Nuvei Corporation through its $6.3 billion privatization by Advent International. Most notably, Barclays led the Arm Holdings IPO in September, which generated $4.9 billion in proceeds—marking the largest public offering the bank has ever underwritten and the largest IPO to price since 2021.
