Recently, I often hear questions in the community: seeing a project's official website UI design that looks outstanding, taking a screenshot directly as an illustration for my own article; discovering some open-source code that is very useful, copying and pasting it into a commercial project. These actions seem harmless, but in the Web3 world, all ownership and usage rights issues are much more complex than most people imagine.

Take a well-known oracle project as an example. Visiting its official website, browsing its documentation, studying its branding materials—these actions themselves are not problematic. But that doesn't mean these assets become public property. The rules are straightforward: you can look, you can learn, but you cannot use them to make money or claim ownership without authorization.

Why should this matter? There are three details worth clarifying:

**Brand assets are not a self-service素材库**
Logos, visual systems, project names—these are brand assets carefully crafted by the project team and are legally protected. Using them for personal learning or non-commercial discussion is acceptable (for example, citing sources in analytical articles), which is usually fine. But printing merchandise to sell or using them to endorse your own project crosses the line. The community's tolerance for such behavior is very low and will be directly regarded as unprofessional.

**The boundaries of open-source code are not so black and white**
Many projects open-source some code to promote the ecosystem. But "open source" and "arbitrary commercial use" are completely different. The type of license determines what you can and cannot do. Some licenses restrict commercial use, some require attribution. Using code directly without paying attention to these details is like setting a landmine.

Understanding these boundaries is not only about protecting your legal awareness but also a basic quality for establishing yourself in the Web3 community.

Oh no, the community should have discussed this matter properly a long time ago. Wow, someone really dared to take a screenshot and use it directly. I also saw someone print a project's logo as an NFT and sell it, only to be mocked by the official community manager. Open source code indeed has pitfalls; licenses are really important. You can't just take it casually; trouble will come sooner or later. These days, who doesn't know about copyright issues, but some people just pretend not to see. It seems I need to remind newcomers more often: don't think Web3 is a lawless place.

I think many beginners haven't really understood these rules and still think that open source means using it freely. Wait a minute, those big V influencers using others' UI as素材 every day, isn't that okay? It's a trap. Licenses are really something you need to read carefully, or you'll accidentally become the scapegoat. Haha, I can't hold back anymore. Are there really people making money by盗用Logo selling周边? The community's tolerance is indeed ridiculously low. That's why I usually draw my own, it's troublesome but at least I don't have to worry about being sued. Open source doesn't mean a free lunch. I have to tell them this a hundred times.

ngl most devs pulling code without reading the license terms are just setting themselves up for systemic risk they don't even realize yet

Oh my goodness, it's the same issue again. A few days ago, I saw someone directly using someone else's UI as their own, and the comment section exploded.

Damn... Someone else got burned again. It's only a matter of time before it crashes.

Coming back with this again? We should have spoken up more long ago. We really can't let this kind of thing go on any longer.
