Never really thought BTC was sitting idle until I watched what it's capable of pulling off.

Sure, everyone knows it's the king. Massive capital locked in. Rock-solid security. Trust that spans continents. But here's the weird part—it just sits there. Doesn't really... do much?

Then you see the infrastructure being built on top. The layers. The protocols leveraging that base security. Suddenly it clicks: all that dormant power wasn't sleeping. It was waiting.

To be honest, Bitcoin is like an old man who seems relaxed but is actually working hard behind the scenes. Wait, I realized the problem—it's not sleeping at all; it's actually serving as the foundation for those layers. So, are the protocols built on BTC the ones actually doing the work? I kind of get it now. Bitcoin just lying around can make everyone depend on it, which is crazy.

nah this "waiting" framing is just cope for protocol stagnation. btc's security budget is hostage to miners' margin requirements—one bad governance move and the whole stack collapses. layers don't fix the base layer's economic fragility.
