Word's coming out of North Africa that Algeria's capital markets are gearing up for some action next year. The local regulator just dropped hints about 2-3 companies lining up to go public on their exchange.

One name catching attention? Ayrade—an IT outfit with big plans. They're apparently eyeing the public markets to bankroll data center expansions. Makes sense when you think about it. Data infrastructure isn't cheap, and the demand keeps climbing.

Not exactly a flood of IPOs, but for a market that doesn't make headlines often, this signals something's moving. Tech companies tapping traditional finance routes for infrastructure buildout—classic playbook, different geography.

Whether these deals actually materialize is another story. IPO plans and IPO launches don't always match up, especially in emerging markets where regulatory timelines can stretch. But the intent's there, and that's worth noting for anyone tracking regional capital flows and infrastructure development.

The name ayrade is a bit unfamiliar... Tech IPOs in North Africa are indeed rare, just a couple of companies, it still feels a bit... shaky. It's true that data center expansion is very capital-intensive, but for IPOs in emerging markets, the timeline from announcement to actual listing is always unpredictable. Hopefully it won't end up falling through. Forget it, let's just watch for now and wait until there's solid evidence before saying anything.

ngl, there's quite a stir in North Africa, and data center infrastructure is indeed short on funds.

Is Algeria going to have listed companies? By the way, are data centers really that expensive to operate? But coming back to the point, why does the African market still feel lukewarm...

What's happening in Algeria is a bit interesting, but what can really change with just 2-3 companies going public?
